Horrific surveillance footage captured a random attack on a New York City resident that took place in broad daylight. A man wearing a ski mask approached a resident, who was carrying a brown paper bag, and proceeded to swing a large knife at him. The victim suffered numerous stab wounds but is expected to recover.
The unprovoked stabbing attack took place in NYC’s Upper East Side this past Thursday.
In a 16-second clip tweeted Saturday by the NYPD, an assailant wearing all black, with his face covered by a balaclava mask, can be seen getting off a bike before swinging a large knife at a 29-year-old pedestrian.
The victim attempted to backpedal away from the assailant, who reportedly attacked the man at random. The attacker then wildly swung the weapon while chasing him off the sidewalk and onto the road, the footage shows.

The victim was stabbed multiple times in his back and left arm, according to the NYPD. Police said the victim did not know the attacker or what his motive was.
The NYPD is searching for the assailant, who the department said Friday is about 30 years old with a medium build. He was riding a black E-bike when he stabbed the victim without provocation and fled the scene in an unspecified direction, The New York Post reported.
Paramedics then rushed the man to an area hospital where he is reportedly in stable condition.
NYC recorded a 54% in robberies over the first four months of 2022 when compared with the previous year.
