Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg Told Prosecutors to Stop Putting Violent Felons in Jail

Soros-funded Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg ordered prosecutors in his office to take it easy on violent criminals and stop pursuing charges on a whole slew of offenses when he took office in January of last year, authoring a “Day One Letter” to his staff that resembled far-left efforts to re-write American laws.

Democrat prosecutor Alvin Bragg is attempting to turn a phony misdemeanor charge into a felony to attack President Trump and disrupt the 2024 election. He’s done the exact opposite when it comes to prosecuting real criminals though, many of whom are violent felons who have been let off the hook by the Manhattan DA’s office, as crime rates in the big apple soar.

In 2022, after taking office as Manhattan’s top prosecutor, Bragg ordered assistant district attorneys to stop throwing criminals in jail and to charge serious felony offenses as petty misdemeanors.

Bragg even compared himself to the criminal element he’s supposed to be throwing in jail in his “Day One Letter,” writing that when he grew up in Harlem, he had many armed encounters with police and violent offenders alike, and is no stranger to bailing his family members out of Rikers Island.

Growing up in Harlem in the 1980s, I saw every side of the criminal justice system from a young age,” Bragg wrote in the letter. “Before I was 21 years old, I had a gun pointed at me six times: three by police officers and three by people who were not police officers. I had a knife to my neck, a semi-automatic gun to my head, and a homicide victim on my doorstep.”

“In large part because of these experiences, I have dedicated my career to the inextricably linked goals of safety and fairness,” Bragg went on to write, before claiming that throwing fewer criminals in jail “will make us safer.”

Bragg laid out a number of new guidelines to help keep crooks and violent offenders out of jail, including measures to “reduce pretrial incarceration,” reduce sentences for convicted offenders, effectively legalize drugs and prostitution, reduce penalties for looters, and stop prosecuting armed robbery as a felony.

The policy changes, Bragg claimed, will “in and of themselves, make us safer.”

In addition to his effective legalization of multiple street crimes, Bragg told the prosecutors under his command to stop prosecuting cases against illegal aliens that could lead to them being deported.

“The Office will seek dispositions that avoid immigration consequences,” for both misdemeanor and felony offenders, to avoid any “immigration consequences,” the letter reads

While Alvin Bragg is taking it easy on violent criminals and illegal aliens, he’s trying to convince a grand jury to indict President Trump on phony charges related to the Stormy Daniels saga. What’s more, is that he’s trying to get the misdemeanor offense he’s brought to the grand jury upgraded to a felony, to inflict maximum political damage.

Bragg sits in his position of power despite the fact that just 10% of Manhattan residents supported his 2021 campaign for District Attorney.

According to the 2020 Census, Manhattan is home to 1,694,251 people. In Bragg’s 2021 election, a mere 182,828 said they wanted Bragg to lead the local prosecutor’s office.
