The majority of Americans now oppose sending US troops to support Israel’s conflict in the Middle East, according to the latest polling by the Chicago Council of Global Affairs.
The survey found 56% of Americans oppose defending Israel with US troops if attacked by Iran, while 41% support it. Republicans are the political majority supporting sending our countrymen for the Zionist cause at 53%. Independents, at 42%, and Democrats, at 34%, support sending our troops over if prompted.
The survey also found that there was a majority of Americans still favored boots-on-the-ground if it was a peacekeeping scenario between Israel and the Palestinians. Democrats, at 62%, were the most willing, unlike in the previous poll, while Independents followed at 51% and Republicans at 48%.
The polling was conducted online from June 21 to July 1, with a national sample size of 1,056, with a margin of error of 3.2 percentage points. According to CCGA, the sample was from Ipsos’ KnowledgePanel, which recruits random samples across the US.

This poll comes on the heels of possible retaliatory action from Iran and its allies after the killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh. If Iran takes military action against Israel, the US will likely get involved, given the rhetoric of the Zionist West.
