Disgraced ex-Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle has ties to Dick Cheney and Joe Biden going back decades. Having served on both of their vice presidential security details, she even accompanied Dick Cheney to the White House bunker on 9/11, where Cheney ordered American fighter jets to shoot down commercial airliners. Cheatle served as Biden’s Secret Service Director beginning in 2022 and resigned after 45th President Trump was shot on her watch.
According to an article published in Kim Cheatle’s hometown newspaper, The News-Gazette:
Cheatle was in the Executive Building while Cheney was in the West Wing of the White House on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, when she watched the first of two planes crash into the World Trade Center on television.
Shortly after, she received a call on her radio notifying her and her team that another plane looked as if it may be headed to the White House.
Along with other agents, Cheatle rushed to the West Wing to shuttle the vice president to a security bunker
In another report, published this May in Cheatle’s home state media, ABC 7 out of Chicago touted her 9/11 experience, reporting that 9/11 “still guides her planning” as she leads “vast Secret Service operation[s].”
Ironically, the ABC 7 report lauded Cheatle as the woman tasked with securing August’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago, just over two months before 45th President Trump was shot under her watch at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“Our job in the Secret Service is to make sure that we cover off on all of those potentials, whether that be, you know, demonstrations, whether that be intelligence threats that are driven out there, or whether that be, you know, biological hazards,” Cheatle told ABC 7. “We kind of have to make sure that we’re putting a plan in place to mitigate all of those possible factors.”
“We are always monitoring, you know, what threat streams are out there,” she went on to say.
Cheatle’s background and actions as Secret Service Director have come under scrutiny after the assassination attempt on President Trump that led to her resignation, and to accusations that the Secret Service, and other elements of the federal government, were involved in the shooting have become widespread.
