On June 2, 2025, ICE conducted Operation Last Stand, raiding a cartel-run nightclub in Summerville, South Carolina, and arresting 72 illegal immigrants.

The Post Millennial reported, “The operation led to over 70 arrests, including members of the Los Zetas Cartel and Tren de Aragua gang.” Consequently, this action signals a crackdown on criminal networks.

The raid targeted the Alamo nightclub, suspected of ties to Mexican drug cartels. Now, national security concerns intensify as authorities act swiftly.

Details of Operation Last Stand

The raid involved over 200 law enforcement personnel, as confirmed by ABCNews4.

Over 200 individuals were gathered at the club on Highway 78 for what Morant called a “cartel afterparty.” Lindsay Williams, public affairs officer for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Atlanta Field Office, confirmed the number of law enforcement personnel on scene, and Chief Keel said around 60 of those were state agents deployed from SLED’s dog fighting unit, fugitive unit, and SWAT team, as well as the aviation unit providing overwatch of the operation.

This extensive law enforcement presence, including aerial support from SLED’s aviation unit, underscores the operation’s complexity.

For instance, the nightclub’s owner, Benjamin Reyna-Flores, faces state and federal charges as a suspected Los Zetas Cartel member, highlighting the raid’s focus on dismantling cartel networks.

Therefore, this action reveals the scale of cartel operations in the U.S. The DHS confirmed the arrests, stating, “ICE HSI special agents, along with our partners, conducted a targeted enforcement operation.”

Thus, Operation Last Stand sets a precedent for future actions against such threats.

Implications of the Cartel Club Raid

The arrests in Operation Last Stand carry significant implications. For example, they underscore the Trump administration’s border security focus.

Meanwhile, critics may question the impact on immigrant communities. However, supporters see it as a necessary step against crime.

Additionally, the involvement of cartels like Los Zetas and Tren de Aragua raises alarms about national security.

Therefore, this raid fuels debates over immigration enforcement and cartel influence. In turn, it pressures policymakers to address these threats.

Conclusion on Operation Last Stand

ICE’s raid on a South Carolina cartel club resulted in 72 illegal immigrant arrests during Operation Last Stand.

This action targets cartel networks, intensifying national security concerns.

Consequently, it divides opinions on immigration policy. Thus, the raid stands as a critical moment for U.S. border security.
