House Republicans have opened a probe into democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz after records indicate several unconventional trips to China.
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., issued a note to FBI Director Christopher Wray on Friday concerning information on the Chinese groups and persons who engaged with Walz on these trips. Along with that, pertinent documents and comms between the democratic candidate’s office, along with any FBI ties, have been requested.
According to The Hill, it is unknown whether the FBI had any communication with Walz over these matters. The outlet reported that Walz taught high school in China for one year back in 1989; later, as a high school teacher, along with his wife, Gwen, in Nebraska and Minnesota, the two held field trips to China.
The New York Times further noted that Walz visited China over 30 times. National File has reported extensively on Walz’s engagements with China and the CCP, including his delegations through the globalist NGO Global Minnesota, which sponsored at least one of his trips.
Comer’s letter asks the FBI if they provided any standard defensive briefs to Walz, whereby informing politicos if they are being targeted or influenced by the CCP.
Comer also wishes to flag any of Walz’s contacts within the Chinese government, including any other entities. Walz criticized the Chinese government, although he met with Consul General Zhao Jian as early as March 2024, as indicated in the post below on X.

Per the letter, Walz attended a US-China Peoples Friendship Association event in 2019, where the democratic vice presidential candidate was invited to speak. However, the Chinese Embassy’s recap oddly holds no record of Walz’s attendance.

According to a released statement, the Harris/Walz campaign spokesman, Teddy Tschann, denied all allegations and hammered away at former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance, R-Ohio.
Republicans are twisting basic facts and desperately lying to distract from the Trump-Vance agenda: praising dictators, and sending American jobs to China. Vice President Harris and Governor Walz will ensure we win the competition with China, and will always stand up for our values and interests in the face of China’s threats.
Tschann touted Walz as America First, adding he “has stood up to the CCP, fought for human rights and democracy, and always put American jobs and manufacturing first.”

The significant question here, noted by Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., is whether Walz complied with the mandatory foreign travel reporting requirements for security clearance, particularly as a member of the National Guard. Banks expressed his concerns in a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin just this week.
