Billionaire philanthropist Elon Musk tweeted a series of messages Wednesday expressing his support for a lift on the United States’ economic lockdown.
“Give people their freedom back!” Musk captioned an article from the Wall Street Journal that he shared on Twitter in the earliest hours of Wednesday morning.
The article in question was an opinion piece titled “Do Lockdowns Save Many Lives? In Most Places, the Data Say No.”

Musk was assailed in the comments by left-wing agitators, with many comments questioning his intellect or likening him to Donald Trump.
The South African entrepeneur didn’t stop expressing his views on the lockdown though – just a few minutes later, he rejoiced over an article about Texas lifting restrictions on churches and businesses.
“Bravo Texas!” Musk said about the Texas Tribune piece, which was titled “Texas restaurants, retailers and other businesses can reopen Friday. Here’s the rules they have to follow.”

Before his account went inactive for the night, presumably because Musk had to retire to bed, the philanthropist made one more compelling tweet.
“FREE AMERICA NOW!” Musk said in all caps.

The message received massive engagement in terms of likes and retweets, many from American citizens frustrated with the indefinite lockdown.
One user responded, “The scariest thing about this pandemic is not the virus itself, it’s seeing American so easily bow down & give up their blood bought freedom to corrupt politicians who promise them safety.”
Musk replied to the comment with one word: “True.”

In related lockdown news, a group of skaters removed large amounts of sand dumped into skate parks by city officials and resumed skating within the hour.
One video posted to Twitter shows a small group of skaters calmly and methodically shoveling away government sand into buckets.
In a video from a different day, one man drives a dirt bike around the new government-created dirt bike track.
The video compilation is captioned “LOOOL checkmate government dweebs.”
A video from the same day, which appears to be taken just a few hours later at most, shows the skaters getting back to business as the remaining sand is swept away.
Public support for scaling back lockdown restrictions continues to grow as politicians warn the country may remain closed into 2021 and beyond.
