The people of the Donbas region voted overwhelmingly in favor of joining Russia in referendums held this week, which concluded yesterday with over 90% of Donbas residents supporting the measure. The vote comes 8 years after the region voted to secede from Ukraine by similar margins, establishing the pro-Russia Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk after 2014’s Soros-sponsored revolution overthrew Ukraine’s elected government. In spite of claims made by the pro-war corporate press that the referendums were “shams,” international observers on the ground say the votes were in fact free and fair.
Officials are reporting that more than 80% of citizens participated in the Donbas referendum, which was carried out over the course of days due to the logistical challenges of holding an election in a warzone. According to the reported results, more than 90% of Donbas residents support joining Russia.
Donbas includes the city of Mariupol and has been a flash point of the Russo-Ukrainian Conflict since 2014. Overall, it makes up around 15% of the territory partitioned as Ukraine after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In reality, however, the Donbas region has historically been tied to Russia. The people there speak Russian and largely have a Russian ethnic identity, even if they possess Ukrainian citizenship.
The region has been under siege since 2014 when they voted to break away from Ukraine and establish the two Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, which are officially recognized by Russia but considered by the UN to be part of Ukraine. Residents supportive of the vote to join Russia say they hope that doing so will lead to receiving full protection from the Russian Federation and the Putin government against the Ukrainian Zelenskyy government, which they see as an aggressor, along with NATO.
The Donbas region played a key role in Putin’s decision to mobilize his forces in Ukraine earlier this year, after widespread reports that Russian-aligned citizens there were facing atrocities at the hands of pro-Ukraine militants. ‘
Since the latest round of combat in Ukraine heated up earlier this year, the region has seen a host of attacks launched by Ukrainian forces against civilians.

In addition to the citizens of Donbas, extremist Ukrainian forces have reportedly committed crimes against Americans in the Donbas city of Mariupol. The Americans were among those goaded by the pro-war press and internet leftists into traveling to Ukraine and sacrificing themselves as mercenaries to the cause of the so-called liberal world war.
According to a shocking report issued by The Stew Peters Show back in June, the Biden-backed Ukrainian Nazi Azov Battalion massacred American volunteers, burning them alive as Ukrainian forces retreated from the Russian advance on Mariupol.
No foreign volunteers were to be left alive and at risk of being captured, Ukrainian authorities ordered.
When Russian-aligned forces came upon the horrifying scene after the flight of the Azovs, they found charred rib cages, smashed skulls, and American identification.
