Governor Jared Polis, a Democrat, is urging Disney to move to Colorado after the Florida legislature stripped the company of its special tax privileges. Polis added that Mickey Mouse would be granted “asylum” in Colorado.
Florida moved swiftly to strip Disney of its special tax privileges after the company attempted to lecture the state over its recently enacted parental rights bill. Disney joined leftist activists, politicians and organizations in falsely labeling the bill — which bars the teaching of sex education and gender ideology in grades K-3 — as the “don’t say gay” bill.
It ultimately took less than a week for Disney to lose privileges it had enjoyed in Florida since 1967, as the measures quickly passed both chambers of the state’s legislature.
In response, Colorado Governor Jared Polis is lobbying for Disney to move to his state. Polis later referred to Florida’s actions as “socialist attacks.”
“Florida’s authoritarian socialist attacks on the private sector are driving businesses away,” the governor wrote in a tweet on Tuesday. “In CO, we don’t meddle in affairs of companies like @Disney or @Twitter.”
Polis then urged Disney to move its theme parks and operations to Colorado. “Hey @Disney, we’re ready for Mountain Disneyland and @twitter we’re ready for Twitter HQ2, whoever your owners are,” the governor added.

The tweet was in response to Governor DeSantis vowing to hold Twitter’s board accountable if they violate their fiduciary duty by declining Elon Musk’s $43 billion takeover offer. Such a move would likely tank the stock, spelling bad news for shareholders.
The Democrat later gave his word that Mickey and Minnie Mouse would be “granted full asylum” if Disney did indeed move to Colorado.
Disney has not responded to the governor’s tweet.
