A brewery who is hosting a “drag bingo” event for minors in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, have described anyone who objects to the event as “hate-filled” and “ignorant.”
Thew Brewing Company is hosting a drag bingo event for adults on Saturday, together with the “LGBTQ youth centre” at Tanager Place, “Iowa’s premier mental health treatment facility for children.” However, before the public event, they are also putting on another drag bingo for “underage and frequently mistreated/misunderstood people to come in and enjoy the event in a safe environment, free of judgement.”
This, of course, drew the ire of some who do not support the sexualisation of minors, but the brewery decided that anyone who disagreed with them must be “hate-filled, ignorant and disturbed”:
Hatred, bigotry, and ignorance go against everything that Thew and all of our employees believe in and go against the entire reason we started the business… As we write this message we are seeing our business be hit with lots of negative reviews related to this – that’s fine. The more people pour onto this, the more awareness we will bring to a fantastic cause… Acceptance, love, and community will prevail.

Some applauded the brewery for their “bravery” of allowing kids to attend their “drag bingo.”
“You guys are class and go above and beyond for community. Ignorance and hate fuel too many. Hang in there, I’m always here for support,” one person wrote, while another described them as “an awesome brewery hosting a fun event for an awesome cause,” and said they were “sorry you have to deal with this ignorance.”
Of course, not everyone was quite so enthusiastic. “Imagine enticing children into a liquor hall with sexual deviants and thinking you’re the good guys here,” one commentor wrote. An angry leftist described them as a “bigot pig,” and tried to argue that this wasn’t true because “the event is 21 and over,” conveniently forgetting that the brewery had organised two drag bingo events.
Another commentor said the brewery was full of “sick pedos,” while yet another said the event was “disgusting, but it is funny to watch all of you [who support the sexualisation of children] publicly outing yourselves.”
The controversy follows the prevalency of drag queen story hours being introduced to children across the world. On Wednesday, Newham Council in London faced a backlash online for organising a drag queen story hour event for children under 5, with one reply saying it “looked like child abuse.”

Kitty Demure, a drag queen, recently slammed parents who wanted to let minors watch any sort of drag queen events. “What in the hell has a drag queen ever done to make you respect and admire them so much, other than put on make-up and jump on the floor and writh around and do sexual things on stage?” they asked:
I have absolutely no idea why you would want that to influence your child. Would you want a stripper or a pornstar to influence your child? It makes no sense at all… To get them involved in drag is extremely irresponsible, and I get that you want to look like you’re cool, that you’re with it, that you’re woke, that you’re not a Nazi or a homophobe, whatever it may be. But you can raise your child to be just a normal, regular, everyday child without including them in gay sexual things.
