Following his historic failure, Kevin McCarthy announced he would not run for the Speakership again. The final straw for Republicans came when McCarthy caved to Biden, Schumer, and McConnell in last week’s continuing resolution. In June, McCarthy made a similar deal with the uni-party on raising America’s debt ceiling. Before last week’s CR negotiations, Matt Gaetz pledged to vacate the chair if McCarthy failed to use the power of the purse.
Following his ousting, McCarthy had a walk of shame-like experience passing the media gathered on Capital Hill. McCarthy looked shell-shocked as he made the historic walk away from the House.
Thanks Matt Gaetz, Bob Good, Ken Buck, Nancy Mace, Matt Rosendale, Tim Burchett, Andy Biggs and Eli Crane for providing accountability to failure.

During his farewell speech, McCarthy sounded like a little child, complaining about the rules he agreed to.
I will not seek to run again for Speaker of the House. I may have lost a vote today, but I fought for what I believe in—and I believe in America. It has been an honor to serve. https://t.co/4EMpOuwtzy

Before McCarthy ran for Speaker, National File led the way, covering McCarthy’s involvement in the FTX scandal. McCarthy used FTX funds to fund establishment candidates in the 2022 GOP congressional primaries against America First candidates like Laura Loomer.
Following Tuesday’s vote, the House will be in recess until next week. Stay with National File for continued coverage of the Speaker vote.
