John Bolton, the former National Security Advisor for President Donald Trump, was asked for his resignation from the administration by the president last night, according to President Trump’s Twitter.
Bolton, who has been widely criticized for his pro-war stances on how to deal with crises in Venezuela, Iran, Syria, and Russia, was asked to resign from the Trump administration last night.
President Trump revealed that Bolton tendered his resignation this morning on Twitter.
The president wrote that he “informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House,” and added, that he “disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration, and therefore [he] asked John for his resignation, which was given to [him] this morning.”
President Trump also said that he plans to name his new National Security Advisor next week.
….I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning. I thank John very much for his service. I will be naming a new National Security Advisor next week.

When running for president in 2016, President Trump routinely railed against military intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan as mistakes the country should rectify should he become president, and has come under scrutiny from Americans who are anti-war for his supposed lack of action on the issue.
At the same time, Democrat presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has repeatedly stressed the importance of bringing troops home from foreign engagements.
Gabbard appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight to discuss the importance of maintaining an anti-war stance with Iran earlier this year.
“I love our country, I love our people, and I’m very concerned with the direction we’re taking, and the failed strategy that Trump has,” said Gabbard.
