Bloomberg Used Prisoners To Make Campaign Calls

Share

The Michael Bloomberg 2020 presidential campaign has relied on prison laborers to make phone calls for the political effort, further underscoring the billionaire’s inability to present any kind of populist credentials as he campaigns for the highest office in the land.

The Intercept reported: “Through a third-party vendor, the Mike Bloomberg 2020 campaign contracted New Jersey-based call center company ProCom, which runs calls centers in New Jersey and Oklahoma. Two of the call centers in Oklahoma are operated out of state prisons. In at least one of the two prisons, incarcerated people were contracted to make calls on behalf of the Bloomberg campaign.”

Bloomberg is no stranger to confused out-of-touch political sloppiness.

The former New York mayor infamously said in an interview at the International Monetary Fund that taxing poor people is actually good for them, because it stops them from buying junk food and sugary drinks that would make them unhealthy and ultimately kill them. Bloomberg’s campaign mantra, therefore, can be interpreted as, “Mike Bloomberg 2020. Help Me Help You.”

The Bloomberg campaign was rocked by the hilarious “Drop Out Bloomberg” effort undertaken by a few enterprising young New York comedians. Comic Nick Ciarelli and friends staged a faux Bloomberg campaign video in which “Bloomberg Heads” were dancing to a rendition of “Moves Like Jagger” with the word “Bloomberg” substituted for “Jagger.” The viral hit duped most of the media, prompting Ciarelli to then pretend to have been fired from his unpaid intern position on the campaign, stoking populist resentment against Bloomberg. The mass media confusion proved that Bloomberg is not cut out for politics in the Meme Age.
