Nina Jankowicz, who was recently tapped to head the Department of Homeland Security’s new “Disinformation Governance Board”, said “liberal voices” are more likely to be censored by big tech companies.
“There is already this idea, this allegation that there is anti-conservative bias on the platforms,” Nina Jankowicz said during a livestream. “Even though there has been study after study proving in fact that, often it’s liberal voices that are being silenced,” Jankowicz continued, adding that “minority voices” are the most likely to be censored.
The new disinformation Czar did not cite any of the “studies” referenced in her claim.

The claim that “liberal voices” are silenced on big tech has been proven false on numerous occasions. In one example, organic Google search traffic for Breitbart News decreased by a whopping 63 percent when comparing the first half of 2016 with the first half of 2020.
Internal Google files have hinted that traffic to Breitbart News, The Daily Caller and numerous other conservative outlets was indeed suppressed. In 2018, The Daily Caller reported on a leaked exchange the day after President Trump’s 2016 election win in which Google employees can be heard discussing whether to “bury” the two platforms.
On Twitter, a study from Quillette professor Professor Richard Hanania at Columbia University found that the platform takes action against conservatives over liberals at a 21-to-1 ratio.
The Nina Jankowicz livestream was widely panned on social media. “Here’s Nina Jankowicz, the Mary Poppins lady over at the ‘Ministry of Truth,’ claiming that ‘liberal voices are being silenced’ on social media,” wrote Scott Morefield of Townhall in a tweet. “Now that’s some Grade A gaslighting right there.”
The “Minister of Truth” has repeatedly shared disinformation herself, particularly in the realm of nonexistent collusion between Donald Trump and the Russian government. Nina Jankowicz has repeatedly claimed that the former president is “compromised” by Russia and tried to discredit Hunter Biden’s laptop as “Russian disinformation.”
She has also referred to the 2020 election as the “most secure election in history.”
