Joe Biden issued a hostile speech on Wednesday in which he lashed out at the “extreme” agenda from “MAGA” voters. “This MAGA crowd is really the most extreme political organization that has existed in American history,” Biden said of former President Trump’s movement.
Biden’s early statements focused on efforts his administration is taking to counter record-high inflation. The president said that the country was on track to cut the deficit by $1.5 trillion by the end of the fiscal year, calling it “the biggest decline in the single year ever in American history.”
“I don’t want to hear Republicans talk about deficits and their ultra-MAGA agenda,” Biden said, pinning inflation on Republican-passed tax cuts.
After taking a question from a reporter, the president referenced a leaked Supreme Court draft opinion that suggests Roe v. Wade will be overturned. Biden went on to suggest that “MAGA” Republicans would soon pass a law that would prevent “LBGTQ children” from attending public schools.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki repeated Biden’s “MAGA” Republican framing at numerous points during Wednesday’s press briefing.
“The president will be judged by his actions and what he does to make lives better,” Psaki said. “Far too many of these MAGA Republicans, as he refers to them, follow the whims of calling out Mickey Mouse and opposing policies that will help make the lives better of many Americans.”
“We’ve seen laws that are incredibly discriminatory,” Psaki continued. “That’s what the president is referring to, and the fact that he doesn’t know what additional steps could be taken by extreme wings of the party that would rather divide than work on issues people are actually focused on.”
The Biden Administration has been a leading voice in falsely labeling Florida’s recently signed Parental Rights in Education legislation as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. The bill does not contain the word “gay” at any point, nor does it bar “LBGTQ children” from anything.
