Video footage from 1991 has resurfaced that shows then-senator Joe Biden musing that in the year 2020 he will be “dead and gone in all probability.” 29 years later, Biden is running for President as the Democratic Party nominee at the age of nearly 78 years old.
In the video, Biden is speaking about Supreme Court Justice David Souter, who was appointed by Republican president George H. W. Bush and served on the Supreme Court from October 1990 to June 2009.
“Because the decision will affect what happens to this country long after Senator Biden is gone, long after President Bush is gone, long after President Reagan’s administrations are forgotten,” Biden says.
“If they live, if Justice Souter, God-willing, lives as long as the average age of the court now, he’ll be making landmark decisions in the year 2020. I’ll be dead and gone in all probability,” the former Vice President states.

If he wins the presidential election on November 3 and is inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States, Biden will be the oldest man ever to hold the office.
During President Ronald Regan’s last year in office he was 77 years old, the highest age ever achieved while holding the office. Joe Biden would be one year older in his first year in office than Reagan was in his last.
In a recent radio interview, the former Vice President said that his running mate Kamala Harris is “ready to be President day one” if “somebody pushed me off a roof, or something.”
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said Wednesday that vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris is “ready to be president on Day One if I – if somebody pushed me off a roof or something,” stoking rumors that Biden could be poised to hand the reigns of the presidency to Harris immediately after potentially winning the November election.
Biden made the remarks Wednesday while appearing on celebrity Steve Harvey’s radio show.
“She’s ready to be president on Day One if I – if somebody pushed me off a roof or something… there are a lot of really fine women that I had to choose from, but I think she’s ready on Day One,” Biden said.
Biden, who has previously described described himself as a “transition” candidate, also described Harris as “so good” and “so damn bright and knowledgeable.”
The ages of Biden and opponent Donald Trump, 73, have become major talking points for both political parties in the lead up to the November election.
