The Biden Department of Justice is suing the State of Arizona over a new law requiring voters to show proof of citizenship before participating in federal elections. Arizona was at the core of the 2020 election fraud scandal, with an audit finding more than enough falsified and irregular ballots to erase Joe Biden’s reported margin of victory in the state. While Republican-led states and jurisdictions have moved to secure elections and verify that only American citizens are casting ballots, blue cities and states have moved in the opposite direction, even allowing known illegal aliens to vote in local races.
The Biden DOJ filed suit against the State of Arizona on Tuesday to block House Bill 2492, a new election law requiring voters to provide proof of citizenship before casting their ballot in federal races, including presidential elections. The legislation reinforces Arizona’s existing voter ID laws, which are widely and bipartisanly supported by American voters, but not the political establishment.

Under the new law, which is scheduled to take effect in January, “a resident must provide satisfactory
evidence of citizenship” before voting in federal elections and those found to have falsely registered or to have aided non-citizens in false registration will face felony charges. The law is reportedly in response to the low threshold of citizenship and eligibility proof required by the federal government’s uniform voter registration system, which has long been criticized for its insecurity and potential unconstitutionality.
Joe Biden and failed Supreme Court nominee-turned Attorney General Merrick Garland, who has previously targetted parents for attending school board meetings, announced their suit against Arizona in a press release this week.
“The United States’ complaint challenges provisions of House Bill 2492 under Section 6 of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA) and Section 101 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964,” reads the DOJ press release.
“House Bill 2492’s onerous documentary proof of citizenship requirement for certain federal elections constitutes a textbook violation of the National Voter Registration Act,” said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division in the release, blasting Arizona for verifying the required citizenship status of its voters.
“Arizona has passed a law that turns the clock back on progress,” Clarke went on to say of the new election integrity law.

Arizona has become the front line of both America’s battle to secure her elections and her border, with Trump-endorsed Gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake making both issues a centerpiece of her 2022 campaign. After a recent Fox News interview, Trump lauded Lake for “destroying” show host Bret Baier, who denied that the documented fraud in Arizona had ever taken place. In the same interview, Lake promised to sign a declaration of invasion upon taking office as Governor and to finish Arizona’s section of President Trump’s border wall, another key issue to voters that is vehemently opposed by the Biden Administration.
