Residents of a wealthy Scottsdale, Arizona neighborhood that supported Joe Biden for President in 2020 are now fighting his decision to house illegal aliens in their own backyard, holding a large-scale protest outside a Homewood Suites Hotel that the Biden Administration has converted to a short-term housing facility for at least 1,200 illegals.
According to local media reports, hundreds of residents turned out at the recently closed Homewood Suites Hotel located at the intersection of Scottsdale and Mountain View Roads in one of Scottsdale’s wealthiest zip codes, to protest the Biden Administration’s immigration policies and their newfound impact on the community.
“The precinct for Scottsdale’s Homewood Suites voted for Joe Biden 51% to 47%. Today, this upscale Arizona neighborhood regrets its decision…Two hundred residents protested Saturday after ICE took over the recently closed hotel to house more than 1,200 illegal immigrants.”
Operations at the hotel-turned-immigration facility went from non-existent to seemingly full speed overnight locals say, with the federal government neither requesting nor accepting any public input on the matter. Even the Scottsdale Police Department was kept in the dark, receiving notification of the government’s decision just one day before illegals began being transferred into town.
According to officials, ICE and their private sector partners expect thousands of illegals to be transported in and out of the neighborhood facility each week. They’ll stay in the hotel for no more than 72 hours officials say, before being released to a sponsor and given transportation to their “final destination” within the United States.
Residents say ICE has wasted no time in putting the facility to use, with the first of its detainees being brought in under the cover of darkness, outside of the community’s view. “Over the Memorial Day Weekend, we were notified about the hotel and the illegals that were moved in under the cover of darkness without any kind of consultation from the local community,” one protester and neighborhood resident said.
“My wife and I drove by last night and sure enough, they have armed guards and we have pictures taken by other homeowners unloading buses with people with backpacks into the facility,” said another protesting resident. “We’re concerned that none of us have been put on notice. There was no due process.” Additionally, journalists and local media outlets have been denied entry to the hotel, totally barred from the facility.
Illegal border crossings have surged massively since Biden assumed office in January, and federal officials are reportedly shipping illegal aliens into battleground districts and conservative communities, setting the regions up for a massive demographic shift and political makeover.
“The President is using Arizona as an experiment with his reckless border policies,” Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich said of the hotel facility. “I will continue to stand up for Arizonans and do everything I can to stop the Biden Administration’s attempt to abolish ICE. All of us will pay the price, not only with our tax dollars, but also with our national security, and the safety of our families.”
