Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez has released a series of strange, Soviet-style posters on Twitter to help promote the Green New Deal.
In a tweet, AOC showed off her new posters, which are to be part of an upcoming series. This tweet featured posters focusing on her home city of New York, with one featuring Queens and another The Bronx.
Surprise!✨I am thrilled to announce the launch of our #GreenNewDeal art series with custom Bronx & Queens GND posters.
The Bronx edition poster will be given for free as a limited release to the public at our Pelham Bay Nature Day & Backpack Giveaway in the Bronx tomorrow.

She said that the posters were inspired by the original New Deal, which was created by another 3-letter-monikered politician, President Franklin Roosevelt (FDR).
Our #GreenNewDeal posters are inspired by the original New Deal, updated for our future.
During the New Deal, FDR launched Federal One, a US project that employed 5,300 artists that created & taught art to envision America’s future.

They were roundly mocked online for being reminiscient of the type of propaganda posters the Soviet Union used to push out, with some wondering if the link between AOC and the USSR was ideological as well as aesthetic:
These Soviet-style posters should totally eliminate popular concern the Green New Deal is some kind of big govt takeover https://t.co/mRYdeHPmVh

A study in February by American Action Forum revealed that her Green New Deal would cost the country $93 trillion, which is over 4 times the current national debt:
“The Green New Deal is clearly very expensive… It’s further expansion of the federal government’s role in some of the most basic decisions of daily life, however, would likely have a more lasting and damaging impact than its enormous price tag.
AOC said on Tuesday evening in an Instagram Live post that she was so terrified of climate change that it wakes her up at night and makes her want to have one less child:
Even while I was on vacation I woke up in the middle of the night at 3:30 in the morning just concerned about climate change… Even now, you know when you put climate change on top of that, I know that I want to perhaps have one less child than I thought I would maybe have… I think having a mixed family is part of my personal planning. But it’s really hard, and I don’t think sometimes that older generations understand how much we’re taking this into account.
Just last week, she was featured in a very cringey sketch from the Simpsons, that depicted President Trump go up against her and the rest of “The Squad” in a musical rip-off of West Side Story.
