Amazing high-definition footage showing a preborn baby at 20 weeks gestation moving around the womb and even stretching its legs is making its rounds on the internet following the leak of a draft Supreme Court decision that will reportedly overturn Roe v. Wade and allow states to once again protect their preborn citizens. The 20-week marker has long been a contentious one in the fight both for and against abortion as it marks a rough halfway point through the 2nd trimester as well as the overall pregnancy. The video dumps cold water on claims that the preborn are just a “clump of cells” until practically the moment of birth, as viewers can clearly see a child with detailed features and a budding personality on the screen at 20 weeks gestation.
In the high-definition sonogram footage posted online of a baby at 20 weeks gestation, the preborn can be seen wiggling around the womb and even fully extending its legs. At one point it even turns its head as if it is facing a camera and striking a quick pose. Roughly the size of a bell pepper or a banana, preborn babies at 20 weeks of gestation weigh between 9 and 11 ounces and could be held in the palm of their mother or father’s hand.
At 20 weeks gestation, the bodily features of a preborn child begin to rapidly take shape, and they even experience hiccups and begin developing taste buds. A mother’s food choices at this point in the pregnancy can begin to influence the culinary tastes of their child later in life. The baby becomes incredibly active in the womb at 20 weeks, bouncing around and delivering kicks throughout the day. The baby is even developing fingerprints at this point and can also experience pain.
Despite all of this, pro-abortionists have fought tooth and nail to stop protections for unborn children at 20 weeks gestation from taking root, deriding 20-week preborns as just a “clump of cells.” Planned Parenthood even compares the thought of such restrictions to murder, claiming they will kill women en masse.
Some Republican lawmakers who say they are pro-life and support pain threshold abortion restrictions have steered clear of the issue on the 2022 campaign trail, for fear of “alienating” pro-abortion voters. Others even supported the so-called Equal Rights Amendment, which would enshrine abortion on demand in the US Constitution and is now being used by the left as a way to try and work around the potential SCOTUS ruling bringing an end to the Roe Abortion free for all.
On the other hand, defenders of the preborn are rallying in anticipation of a SCOTUS ruling striking down Roe after nearly 50 years, and some conservative lawmakers are promising legislative action immediately after a potential ruling.
Since the 1973 Roe decision that legalized abortion nationwide, over 63 million preborn American children have been killed.
