The Michigan man who grabbed headlines by beating a defenseless elderly man to a pulp in sickening videos has been charged after damning footage circulated social media.
The man, whose videos made it as far as President Donald Trump, has been handed assault charges following the insidious attacks, reported the Detroit Free Press.
Jaden Hayden, 20, reportedly told staff at Westwood Rehabilitation Nursing Center that his 75-year-old roommate Norman Bledsoe had fallen out of bed when his injuries were discovered, requiring the elderly man to be hospitalized.
However, the bloodied Bledsoe was revealed to have sustained the injuries in video the criminal mastermind Hayden posted the merciless footage online, which, after having gone viral, were forwarded to Detroit police.
Police say Hayden had also stolen Bledsoe’s credit cards on top of his inexcusable abuse of a vulnerable patient, according to The New York Post.
The prosecutor Kym Worthy said: “The alleged actions of this defendant are truly and uniquely disturbing. We must be able to trust our loved ones in specialty care facilities. I truly hope that the facts of this case are one of a kind.”
Yesterday, Hayden was hit with two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, larceny in a building, and two counts of stealing a financial transaction device without consent.
His bond has been set at $300,000 after being arraigned on Sunday.
The horrendous images gave rise to other equally disturbing footage of the mistreatment of elderly patients at care home facilities surfacing on social media.
The unique lowliness of the crime itself even reached the attention of President Trump, who tweeted about the incident.
