Joe Biden ordered American forces stationed in the Middle East to intervene and combat Iran’s missile strike on Israel on Tuesday when an estimated 180 Iranian missiles were launched at Israeli targets. Despite America’s intervention and Israel’s use of the U.S.-funded iron dome missile defense system, video footage and media reports have documented Iranian missiles breaking through and hitting their targets.
Joe Biden told reporters on Tuesday that America’s intervention in Israeli-Iranian hostilities was “a testament to intensive planning [between] the United States and Israel to anticipate and defend against a brazen attack.”
“Make no mistake,” Biden added.
“The United States is fully, fully, fully supportive of Israel.”
Biden’s intervention order was met with glee from other members of his administration as well, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken telling the media that Israel and the United States, together, had “defeated” the Iranian attack and that the United States had demonstrated, once again, our commitment to Israel’s defense.”
Israel says that none of its citizens were killed in Iran’s missile strike, which focused on military targets, but a simultaneous mass shooting in Tel Aviv killed at least eight and has been blamed on Islamic terrorists by Israeli officials. Both shooting suspects were shot dead by Israeli police.
Tuesday’s action marks the second time this year that Iran has launched a large-scale strike against Israel, with the second one outsizing the first, and it came just after Israel officially kicked off its invasion of Lebanon, where the IDF is pivoting to fight Iran-backed Hezbollah.

Preceding the invasion, Israel carried out numerous strikes in Lebanese territory, killing and maiming high-ranking members of not just Hezbollah, but the Iranian government, and it’s also carried out multiple missile and drone strikes in Iranian territory, including targeted political assassinations.
