New 2024 Presidential Election polling released Sunday by The Washington Post and ABC News shows 45th President Donald Trump holding a commanding 7-point lead over Joe Biden. The latest polling proves false the Team DeSantis argument that “Trump can’t win the general election”.
President Trump currently leads Joe Biden by 7 points, with the poll results coming in at 49% for Trump and 42% for Biden. Trump has gained 5 points on Biden since the last ABC News/WaPo poll, which was conducted in January 2023.
The newly released WaPo/ABC News poll found Trump holding an impressive 42%-34% lead over Biden with Independent voters.
The poll also asked voters, “Who do you think did a better job handling the economy – Donald Trump when he was president or Joe Biden during his presidency so far?” 56% of voters said that they preferred Trump’s economy, compared to just 36% of voters who preferred Biden’s.
Team DeSantis has been attacking Trump as a candidate that “can’t win the general election.” However, polling continues to prove Team DeSantis’ argument wrong.
Twitter users have begun mocking Team DeSantis for their “Trump can’t win the general election” stance.
One user wrote, “The Washington Post/ABC News just released a poll showing Trump trouncing Biden in the general election AND performing better against Biden than Desantis. Trump outperformed this same poll in both 2016 & 2020. The neocon argument that ‘Trump can’t win’ has officially collapsed.”
