An 83-year-old elderly woman was shot while canvassing in support of pro-life legislation in Michigan.
The pro-life activist volunteered with Right to Life of Michigan (RLM) to help door-knock to discuss the state’s upcoming vote on Proposal 3, which seeks to protect abortion access in Michigan.
The elderly lady was canvassing in a neighborhood in Lake Odessa when “she was shot in the back/shoulder while leaving a residence during a heated conversation, and that the man who shot her was not a part of her conversation.”
“The victim does not know the identity or motive of her shooter. The victim is still recovering from her gunshot wound and wishes to remain anonymous while the criminal investigation proceeds,” a statement from RLM explained.
One of our 84-year-old volunteers said she was shot in the back/shoulder on Tuesday while going door-to-door in her town of Lake Odessa to talk about Proposal 3. She doesn't know who shot her, or why. That's all we know right now. https://t.co/PmlzHONDHE

Michigan State Police told Fox News the woman was shot after a “verbal altercation while she was passing out pamphlets.”
Michigan voters can vote on Proposal 3 on the general election ballot on November 8th.
RLM spokesman Chris Gast reasserted the group’s intentions to continue their pro-life activism across the state.
“We’re glad the victim is recovering, and our volunteers will continue knocking doors on Proposal 3,” Gast told Fox News.
This recent violent attack against Christian pro-lifers is not out of the ordinary. Just last Friday, a pro-life author and sidewalk counselor had his house surrounded by dozens of FBI agent and a SWAT team arrested him in front of his 7 children.
As National File previously reported:
Mark Houck is a father of seven children, a pro-life author, and a sidewalk counselor.
Around 7:00 AM on Friday, according to Houck’s wife Ryan-Marie, who homeschools the children, as many as 30 FBI agents surrounded their home with rifles ready to shoot and “started pounding on the door and yelling for us to open it.”
Ryan-Marie said her husband attempted unsuccessfully to de-escalate the threatening agents, saying, “‘please, I’m going to open the door, but, please, my children are in the home. I have seven babies in the house.’ But they just kept pounding and screaming.”
When Mark opened the door, “the kids were all just screaming. It was all just very scary and traumatic.”
After the FBI agents snatched up Mark “the kids were all screaming that he was their best friend, the [FBI agents on her porch] kind of softened a bit. I think they realized what was happening,” Ryan-Marie told Lifesite News.
Mark was arrested on a warrant which claimed he violated the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act). The warrant claims Mark attacked a patient escort.
